New housing for Fall River homeless makes progress as HUD tours city

On June 24, representatives from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development visited a few key sites around the city where federal money is hard at work.

 

On a tour of Kennedy Park’s pickleball and volleyball courts, the Cathy Assad Tot Lot in Father Travassos Park, a new transitional housing development on Rock Street, and a visit to Fall River Fire Department headquarters, Mayor Paul Coogan, Community Development Agency Director Michael Dion, and HUD representatives agreed that revitalization is in full force. 

 

Outside 212 Rock St. where renovations are underway courtesy of federal HOME Investment Partnerships American Rescue Plan Program, or HOME-ARP funding, Coogan said, “We think this has tremendous potential. … We work extremely hard to get them a quality, livable spot.”
